I love recipe scrapbooking albums. They are so fun to have around your kitchen as décor and just hanging out as a recipe book. Plus, it makes your recipe albums more personal. What a fun gift to give to your family and friends as a collection of your favorite recipes that you would like to share with them.

I have found a great article that I would like to share with you. The link is below:

http://cookinginseason.com/healthy-recipes/halloween-desserts-recipes-with-pictures/

This article gives you great ideas on creating a recipe scrapbooking album. Like the article mentioned,
the scrapbooking stores are selling all kinds of products to help you create your own scrapbooking album.

I also have a great idea for a certain type of recipe scrapbooking album you can create. I lost my mother to lung cancer two years ago and my mom was a great cook and I have several of her recipes that were my favorites that she would make for our family. So, I have decided to create a recipe scrapbooking album of these favorite recipes to give to my children and to my siblings. This will be a reminder of her whenever we open up this recipe scrapbooking album. It will, I’m sure, bring back all kinds of wonderful memories as I am creating it and whenever I look at it.

I thought of another ideas when it comes to finding pictures for the scrapbooking album. If you do not want to take pictures of the food that you will be using in your scrapbooking album, then you can do a search on the internet and then right-click on the picture and do a “Save picture as” and then put it in a folder on your desktop titled “Recipe Photos” and then you can refer to it when you are ready to print out the picture and add it to your recipe scrapbooking album.

There are many different types and sizes of scrapbooking albums. Choosing a scrapbooking album can be a chore because there are so many different brands and styles. A new trend out in scrapbooking albums is the chipboard album. A chipboard album comes in many sizes and shapes as I have shown in the link below. They can also be fairly inexpensive. I love the versatility of chipboard albums, and that you can customize them however you’d like.

http://www.amazon.com/Clear-Scraps-Inch-Chipboard-Album/dp/B002FW8B8E

Here area some quick and easy steps to create a chipboard scrapbooking album:

1 – Gather your supplies. Choose some patterned paper, chipboard and letter stickers, tags or labels, rubons and fun embellishments, such as ribbon, buttons, bling, charms, etc. I decided to keep my supplies fairly limited, and chose a color palette that goes nicely with my pictures to create a cohesive scrapbooking album.

2 – Measure and trim patterned paper to the size of your cover. Then, adhere the paper to the scrapbooking album (front and back). I love the Hermafix dots for this step. They give great coverage, and won’t buckle your paper. You can also add a layer of Mod Podge on the top of the paper, at this point, for durability. However, this is optional.

3 – Now the scrapbooking album is ready for the title elements, which are the chipboard and letter stickers, tags or labels, and rubons. You can first alter the chipboard letters with paint, patterned paper or stamping if you prefer. I like to use either Hermafix or a strong liquid glue (like the Green Tombow) for chipboard letters.

4 – Add all of the fun embellishments that we talked about in step #1 above. Glue dots are great to use for heavier embellishments.

5 – To give the cover a finished look, I ink the edges with a chalk ink or just the regular chalks. You could also use a little paint for this purpose too.

Tada! You are now ready to add photos and journaling and you have completed your scrapbooking album.

Another type of scrapbooking album that has been very popular with scrapbookers this year is the acrylic album. I have also provided a link below to show what these album are like. These are not as cheap as the chipboard, but they are just as cute!

http://bobunny.blogspot.com/2008/09/bo-bunnys-new-clearly-naked-albums.html

These are just two of the trendy scrapbooking album options on the market. Of course, there are many fun and new products that you can “Google” the word “new scrapbook albums”. There are also many free videos on the Internet that will show you how to make mini albums, albums that can be stored in tins, etc. The sky is the limit!

I have an amoire full of rubber stamps and the various products you need to make rubber stamping successful. However, I don’t do a lot of rubber stamping. Why? because I spend most of my time scrapbooking. So why not combine the two? That is the question. I came across a really good article that I found at http://www.the-craft-barn.net/ideas-for-adding-the-special-touches-to-your-scrapbook/ that gives some great ideas on combining scrapbooking and rubber stamping.
One scrapbooking ideas that the article didn’t mention is the use of alphabet rubber stamps. There are lots of alphabet rubber stamps that can be purchased and then the best part is that they can be used over and over again. That is the best part of rubber stamping, that you can use the stamps over and over again.
Alphabet rubber stamps come in all shapes, sizes and fonts. It is fun to use several different sizes and fonts when stamping one main word. It is a multi-dimensional look. It is also a very popular trend. There are monogram stamps that are very popular this year also. I have included a website that you can see an example of a monogram stamp. http://www.esticker.com/searchprod.cfm?search_name=343791&stype=1&source=googlebase
I have also noticed that WalMart has caught on to the rubber stamping craze. They have a small but good variety of rubber stamps. As I was looking, I had many scrapbooking ideas that I could create with their assortment of stamps. Of course, probably the best place to get rubber stamps is through Close to My Heart, which has to be purchased through a dealer or by going to a home party. Micheal’s and JoAnn stores have a large variety of rubber stamps. I love to use my 40% off coupons that you can get for both stores and then the stamps are really very inexpensive.
The article that I mentioned above has many scrapbooking ideas using rubber stamps, so be sure to check it out. Rubber stamping is a great way to make your scrapbook pages “pop”! I guess I better start using mine!

Scrapbooking ideas are as numerous as the stars! However, sometimes we need to come down to earth and simplify our page layouts. What I mean by this is that usually when we are stumped when making a page layout it is because we think we have to create a masterpiece, and we don’t! There is great beauty in the simplicity of a layout. Here are a few scrapbooking ideas on keeping it simple:
*Enlarge your photo – we sometimes feel that we have to put something on every part of the page. When I get in this mind set, I enlarge my photo so that it takes up more room on the page. I don’t do this all of the time, but occasionally I love the look that a larger photo brings to the page layout.
*Make your journaling a beautiful element on your page – I have included a link below that gives many scrapbooking ideas on just what I mean by this. But let me explain a little further. Make your journaling block and then add cute embellishments to it (such as rub-ons, stickers, charms, etc.), or doodle around it, or use your rubber stamps to highlight the journaling block.

*Group a number of photos together – try grouping several photos together in a collage form. This next link is to give you ideas on what I mean by a photo collage. There are numerous scrapbooking ideas concerning photo collages, so take a look and you will see just how simple and easy they are to create.

I have given you three great scrapbooking ideas that will help you to simplify your page layouts and put the focus on what is most important – the photo and the journaling.
